Hullo and welcome!
I’m a 26 year-old Canadian living in London, England. I’m trying not to be mistaken for an American but it’s not working very well.
Two years ago, I detached myself from my helicopter parents and attempted to learn to cook for myself. This year, I moved to England to further my education and learn what it’s like to be lost in a GIANT city. I may or may not have moved because I’m obsessed with the British culture, history and architecture. And the accents. Oh the accents. But I assure you that’s not the main reason I moved.
I’m kind of crazy and quirky, but in an endearing kind of way. I’m very much an extrovert and I make new friends wherever I go. I enjoy learning from other people and close to the top of my list is trying different beers and wines. I’m a scientist for now, future something else – we’ll see where life takes me.
Why did I start this blog?
I’m no writer, and do not wish to make a career out of writing or communication in any way. I’m sure I’ll be writing scientific papers in my near to far future, so the experience of writing a blog will certainly help me in that area, but that’s not the reason I started this. I’ve never been one to keep a diary or a journal and even though I have tried numerous times, writing consistently was a failed New Year’s Resolution 3 years in a row.
I truly enjoy reading other people’s blogs – for pleasure or for business. I hunt around for posts during down times from which I can learn from other people and uplift myself. I search for inspirational photos, quotes and stories to help me when I need it (but that’s another blog in the making). I’m a hopeless romantic, love cute couple-y photos and most anything that will make you go “awwwwwww” (puppies included!). So I got to thinking… if I’m learning so much from reading random posts on the internet, I’m sure there are people who can benefit from my thoughts and ramblings. If I’m going to take from the internet, I may as well give back. So this is my form of giving back. You can take what you want out of this, but it’s a place for me to express my thoughts, fears, dreams and hopes. And maybe rant a little.
